This is the food and recipe journal for [info]surichan. Here, I will post vegetarian, vegan, and raw recipes (either my own or those I've collected from cookbooks, blogs, and other sources) that I've prepared, hopefully along with pictures of each completed recipe. I'll also post recipes and pictures of food cooked by or with my boyfriend (who I tongue-in-cheekly call "Himself") and my best friend Carri ([info]kashi_chan, a classically-trained pastry chef who recently went vegetarian), and pictures of veg-friendly food from restaurants I visit, and just generally blather about food a lot.

Since going vegetarian in Summer '06, I have become absolutely passionate about cooking, and cooking vegetarian in particular. Since Summer '07, I've also been trying to cook and eat vegan as much as possible. On rare occasions, I'll give in to dairy (though I'm reeeeally trying to be good, I swear!) so there will be ovo-lacto recipes on this journal, but on the whole, all the recipes I post here will be vegan - or easily made vegan, anyway!

I welcome you, my readers, to try these recipes yourselves, tampering with them and substituting ingredients as you see fit (there are few things more fun and exciting to do in a kitchen - at least, by yourself! - than play the substitution game!). Then, I invite you to comment on my entries to tell me about how your trial runs turned out, whether you think my recipes are perfect or could stand to be improved, or just tell me how crazy I am for loving spinach as dearly as I do; spinach and spices. Yes, that's another thing - I'm nuts for spicy food. Some of these recipes might be too spicy for the untrained tongue. I'll try to be sensitive to that and remind my readers that my level of spice is always optional, and that these foods tend to be delicious with even the minimum of spices added.

Welcome, and enjoy the food!
